SEANG Meeting

Technical differentiation in the make-up of metal-backed printing blankets was one of the topics covered when the South East Asia Newspaper Group (SEANG) held its second annual conference in Bangkok (November 18-20).

Making a Tradition also this year SEANG started with the Conti-Air golf tournament followed by a barbeque.

Delivering easy-to-understand explanations of a complex subject was ContiTech's Stefan Fullgraf, one of ten local and international speakers at the technical sessions.

Others addressed best practice and cost reduction, with a special focus on UV inks and printing technology.

Visiting from newspaper sites in Sydney and Singapore, Paul Peters (Fairfax Printers) and Anthony Cheng (Singapore Press Holdings) told of developments at their print sites and the philosophies that drive them.

Highlights of the social programme included golf on the opening day, and a dinner cruise on the river.

"We were delighted to have delegates from newspapers in six countries," says vice chairman Stephan Peters, who is ContiTech's regional technical sales manager. "We're already making plans for an even bigger event for our third conference next year."
